The Pyramid Team capped another busy art show season with a triumphant turn at Dirty But Sophisticated 4, held February 2 at Czar nightclub in Ybor City. The show challenged Mitzi and Bradley to new collaborative heights, as over a period of five months they crafted an intense photographic narrative with help from talented actors (Dustin Koncinsky, Shanna Gillette and others), stylists (Spyros and Scotty from Bentley Salon) and visual artists (Jay Giroux and Theo Wujick). Additionally, Mitzi helped plot a runway show for Jay Giroux’s wardrobe designs, drawing comment from local art critic Megan Voeller on her ArtSqueeze.com blog. 1) Art After Dark: Inside/Out at Tampa Museum of Art (visit myspace.com/insideouttampa for a recap of this interactive extravaganza), and 2) a fashion show for Pop Goes the World ‘80s theme party benefiting WMNF 88.5. The fashion show featured retro outfits from Sherry’s Yesterdaze, and styling/makeup by Bentley Salon. Between the bathroom-turned-dressing-room madness, and the visiting TV crew from Showtime’s “Penn and Teller: Bullshit!” series, we had our hands very full. Click HERE to see shots Bradley snapped throughout this wild night, and stay tuned to Showtime for the Nostalgia episode in Season 6. January’s “Retroperspectives” Art After Dark event (the last held at the Tampa Museum of Art before its demolition) was another success for the team, and for the local art scene. This two-night show featured amazing work from a long list of respected Bay area artists, and both Mitzi and Bradley were excited to make strong art sales. With a fresh sense of self as they look over the winter months and update their growing portfolio, Mitzi and Bradley are refocusing to tend their poor, neglected web site with a healthy dose of updates. But continue watch for them in spring, because great things are still happening.
